Carro Tico is a small three-wheeled microcar that was manufactured by the Costa Rican company, Mora y Castro S.A. The name "Tico" comes from a popular nickname for Costa Ricans. The Carro Tico was first introduced in 1991 and quickly became popular in Central America due to its affordability and fuel efficiency. The car was powered by a 550cc engine and had a top speed of around 60 km/h. Its compact size made it ideal for navigating narrow streets and busy urban traffic. In 2000, the production of Carro Tico was ceased due to the increasing number of imported vehicles. Nowadays, Carro Tico's have become a symbol of Costa Rica and are popular among tourists as a unique way to experience the country's culture and transportation history.
